The Downtown Hamilton Secondary Plan in concert with the Transportation Master Plan provide a template to help guide development within the area bounded by Queen, Cannon, Wellington and Hunter streets. The 10-year Capital Budget Plan establishes priorities in relation to infrastructure and public space improvements within the Downtown core. In addition, the first phase of the new Hamilton Zoning By-law created new zones for Downtown Hamilton.
Several landscape projects undertaken in the Downtowns and Business Improvements areas include new parkettes and gateway features. Other initiatives prepared by the City’s Urban Design group include the Downtown Heritage Character Zone Design Guidelines, Binbrook Village Community Core Urban Design Guidelines, the Downtown Mobility Streets Master Plan, and York Boulevard streetscape master plans.
