What a spread! Indian or Italian, sushi or strudel - Hamilton is well known for its lively restaurant scene, particularly its selection of ethnic food specialties that reflect the eclectic nature of our community. All in all, there are an estimated 500 restaurants in this area alone.

Take downtown. With fine dining and ethnic specialty spots, this is your best to find something for everyone.  Up and coming James Street North offers high quality Portuguese food to the artists and art lovers who have begun to congregate there.

Hess Village attracts a young, hip crowd and some flashy new nightclubs, bars and eateries have opened to cater to them. Dinner here can range from chicken wings and a pitcher of beer to lobster and other seafood specialties.

Locke Street offers several restaurants with innovative food and wine & fine dining without pretensions or high prices.  Antique stores, hair salons and jewellery stores make this a shopping destination that naturally turns into a “Well, since we’re here, let’s grab a bite at that new place we spotted last week.”

Westdale Village, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, Dundas and Waterdown all offer great restaurants and the kind of atmosphere you wouldn’t get for any money in the GTA.

Small town atmosphere; big town quality define the restaurant scene in these neighbourhoods.  For example, Stoney Creek Dairy is just the place to be on a hot afternoon slurping a cone of the city’s best ice cream, and on those cold winter days, there’s nothing quite as warming as the tea at Pause Awhile in Waterdown or Taylor’s Tea Room in Dundas.
