Hamilton’s Economic Development team helps international companies make a ‘soft landing’ in Canada.

The Economic Development team can connect international firms looking to land here in Hamilton to business resources, government agencies, and industry associations. The business development officers will introduce visiting international firms to Hamilton’s vibrant technology ecosystem, research labs, academic institutions, and help international firms access government incentives that fuel innovation.

Eligible companies should:

  • Have all valid paperwork needed to conduct business in Canada
  • Be a for-profit business in a high-growth field
  • Have the ability to pay monthly rent
  • Have potential for positive economic impact on the community through
    • A technology, product or service deemed to have a high potential impact in the marketplace and
    • Potential for the creation of new high-paying jobs

Hamilton’s Economic Development team and the soft landing program can help international firms settle and expand their business in Canada. Everything from the site selection process to hiring the first employee, the Economic Development team can provide visiting firms with the latest data, information and tools provided by the City of Hamilton and the Ontario Government.

The City of Hamilton’s Economic Development team will create a custom program for you and your team members to learn about the Canadian business landscape while experiencing the culture and diversity of Hamilton. Our immersive program will be heavy with networking and help you develop a sales pipeline to your first North American customers. It’s an opportunity to connect with an established and deep network of public institutions, government resources, and potential partnerships in private enterprise.
